Lighthouse Rehabilitation Aide Job Description
***NO CNA certification required. ALL training provided at our facility***
1. Requirements:
A. Physical examination, including TB test
B. Physical stamina
C. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
D. Ability to relate with sensitivity to person served
E. Ability to get along with people and to work as a team
F. Ability to work without immediate supervision
G. Accuracy in recording data
H. Willingness to take on tasks and duties
I. Attend training and pass examinations as required
2. Qualifications
A. Over the age of 18
B. Experience working with handicapped individuals and/or interest in learning about closed head injury
C. Past work experience should reflect a positive attitude about self and others
D. Ability to handle responsibility independently
E. Have initiative
3. Refer to the Lighthouse organizational flow chart for lines of communication and authority.
4. Supervision
The Rehabilitation Aide will be supervised by the Home Manager and/or other administrative personnel as appropriate. Evaluations will be done on an annual basis.
5. Responsibilities
A. Resident Care
-
Daily bathing and brushing of teeth, all bathroom tasks such as shaving, hair, deodorant, etc.

Dressing – help lay out clothes and help dress if help is required.

Feeding – help set the table and serve the meal. Assist in feeding as is needed.

Medications – administer suppositories when needed

You may need to assist the therapists in implementing therapeutic exercises for people served.

You will work on any program set up for behavior modifications, and keep any charts required.

You may need to help take a person served to the doctor, hospital, etc.

Accompany people served outside of the home serving as a guide, companion, and aide.

You may need to take a person to school and perform all tasks required there.

Attend religious meetings with people served.

Transfer and assisting other staff with transfers

Lifting of persons served

Participation in physical intervention situations when the need arises

Attend community outings, including church services with people served

May be in an environment where people served smoke
-
May be in an environment where residents are verbally, physically, and sexually inappropriate

Any duty required by Management
B. Area responsibilities
-
Beds – will be changed and remade daily or as often as needed.

Laundry – dirty clothes will be taken to the laundry room as soon as possible. Clean clothes will be taken from laundry room and returned to rooms daily. You may also be required to do laundry.

Cooking – you will need to prepare and also serve meals, in the absence of the food supervisor, to people served. This includes snacks.

Dishes – after each meal, the table will be cleared, and all dishes washed and put away.

Bedrooms will have a cleaning schedule to be followed. You will also be expected to follow the schedule. You may also be asked to perform other household tasks such as dusting, vacuuming.

You will complete any paperwork that pertains to your job.
